Board games for adults were very popular in the 1970s and they are seeing renewed interest from people, especially those in their 20s and 30s. Many people love playing board games at parties with large groups of people. And with all the fun new board games coming out there's no shortage of fun to be had. The most popular new board game for adults is Cranium. First made popular being sold in Starbucks Cranium is a great game that combines several different genres of games. You basically have word games, charades, Pictionary, and spelling bees all combined into one. It's played in teams and gives players with different types of skills a chance to participate. You are guaranteed a good time with this game. Taboo is another great game if you have a large group of people. Basically you need to get your team to guess a particular word without saying several key words that would easily tip them off. This game is a great icebreaker and is fairly easy to play. Taboo has been around for several years and is still one of the best sellers. In recent years another game of the 1980s that is interesting people is Balderdash. In this game, everyone is given an extremely obscure word and they are asked to conjure a definition for it. One person then tries to guess what the real definition is - this generally proves to be quite difficult. This game is popular as it allows everyone to be creative and the interest is generated by the weird definitions people come up with. Twister is a totally retro game that people still love to play. You should be sure to know the people you're playing with quite well since you may end up in some compromising positions. Twister is great for a group of four friends. When in a group of intellectuals, Trivial Pursuit is a mentally stimulating fun game to play. The game has developed over the years and the latest version of Trivial Pursuit traces its vintage to the 1990s. Depending on the age of the peer group, select the version and the younger may not appreciate the initial versions of the game. Drinking games have always been a popular sport at parties. Some of these games need little more than a deck of cards or pair of dice. However, some of the game manufacturers are developing drinking board games, which were very all the craze back in the 1960s and 1970s. One of the most recent games is a game called I Never. This is game is a fun way to find out facts about your friends that will surprise you, as well as enjoy a few drinks. Plan to have a designated driver or a place for your friends to spend the night; you typically end up drinking quite a bit. Games may be thought of us a kid's party favor, but in reality adults enjoy board games, card, and dice games as well. They are a terrific way to get a part started, especially if everyone doesn't know each other, or a fun opportunity to wind down a party. Check your local games or department stores for the games described above or look for games that you might have enjoyed as a kid.
