The only thing as important as a sound mind is a healthy body. Millions of dollars are spent by people the world over in buying fitness drinks, health drinks and joining gyms. Today more than ever people are aware of the importance of being healthy and more importantly fit. 65% of America's population is not just fat, they are obese, that means their body weight is 20% more than the allowed weight limit. One of the biggest problems people today face, is not being able to go to a gym, or a fitness centre, busy schedules and late working hours are usually blamed. Well if this is the case with you, then what you can need to do is start working out at home. Depending on your budget and your motivation, you can work at out home in a wide variety of ways. Below is a list of some of the methods/equipment that can help you stay healthy and fit, while working out in the comfort of your own home. The Treadmill One of the most essential pieces of fitness equipment for any home, contrary to popular belief treadmills don't mean that you have to be running on the mill for hours on end. Like most physical exercises, the idea is to build up your stamina, by first walking at low speeds and then working out more rigorously. There are a vast variety of treadmills available that allow you to carry out exercise at different resistances and speeds. If you have the money, the first thing to buy is a treadmill. Abdominal crunches You don't need expensive equipment for abdominal crunches, of course there is professional equipment that allows you to maximise the impact of abdominal crunches, and in addition it also works on additional body parts like the arms and legs. However if you do not have the budget for such equipment don't worry, once you start doing abdominal crunches, you will automatically start doing it right. Aerobics and steppers Aerobics are a great way to keep fit, and particularly women from all ages enjoy the light dance like routines that come with aerobics, all you need to get started with aerobics, is some light weights, a stepper and a good instruction video. Aerobics is especially useful for working women, who prefer getting up early in the morning and working out before work. The list is endless, you could just go for a walk outside, or do on the spot running. There are also other pieces of gym equipment like weights, bench press equipment (weight training is usually preferred by men as a means to build up muscle mass and increase fitness), the important thing is keeping fit. There should be no excuse for not working out a little everyday. No matter what work out regime you choose, or if you have chosen a diet plan, there has to be a certain amount of dedication that goes into keeping yourself healthy and fit.
