Experience the Grand Canyon Without the Crowds

Grand Canyon trip can be really stressful with all the milling crowd and people trying to take positions for a snapshot. The purpose of enjoying the nature's grandeur gets diluted in the whole process. However, if you consider visiting other Grand Canyon options leaving aside the ever-crowded south Rim then you can certainly avoid the crowd and get better view of the Canyon.

In fact, the North Rim, the West Rim, and Torroweap are three other places where you can enjoy the Grand Canyon with fewer people and less bother. They have their own attractions, and are far less crowded than the perpetually overcrowded South Rim. If you plan your trip carefully you can better enjoy one of the natural wonders of the world.

You get a very picturesque view of the Canyon from the North Rim. It is also much cooler, as it is at a higher elevation and further north. So, you will not only cut out the crowds but will also not suffer the 100-dregree heat of the South Rim during the summer months. Moreover, you can take comfortable hikes in the evergreen forest bordering the North Rim.

The North Rim also features a variety of accommodations for visitors. There are rentable cabins right near the edge and plenty of campsites available. Additionally, there is a large and comfortable lodge with rustic hotel rooms. There is a restaurant and a bar located at the North Rim, as well as a gift shop. Note that the North Rim is closed from October to April (sometimes May), depending on the winter weather.

The West Rim is even less crowded that the North Rim. There is a ranch located on the edge, known as the Grand Canyon West Ranch. It offers beautiful accommodations in cabins or even in teepees. Additionally, there are natural springs nearby and it contains a launch pad for a hot air balloon ride. The beautiful vista can be thoroughly enjoued in this out of the way spot.

The least crowded is Torroweap. It is practically deserted anytime you go because it so out of the way. It is very close to the Utah border with Arizona. You have to drive into the Arizona Strip District and turn onto a very poorly maintained county road. After bumping over it for an hour at a slow pace you will come to the edge of the canyon.

Owing to its untamed terrain and less visited location, Torroweap has no fences or warning signs. The destination stands welcoming with its wide expanse. The fact that it is less visited is evident from the traces of game trails and faint signs of the other visitors that occasionally come here. The region offers some breathtaking sceneries of dramatic red cliffs and vibrant blue sky. But while you enjoy the scenery take care that you don't drive off the road down the cliff.

The Grand Canyon is worth seeing, and you should not miss it for fear of crowds. Just go to the North Rim, the West Rim, or to Torroweap to have a truly moving experience without being pushed by crowds.
