Dallas Activities and Sites

Dallas is the perfect vacation get-away, whether it's just for the weekend or for an extended vacation. Texas is amazing all on its own, but tourist flock to Dallas. Dallas sits on the Trinity River with its many creeks and small tributaries that branch off throughout the city. The many rivers, creeks and streams offer a number of lovely tree-lined walks and parks. You'll enjoy strolls among the oak, cottonwood and pecan trees.

The southwestern United States thrives on the financial and business center that makes up Dallas. There are always conventions for businesses and groups to attend. In fact, Dallas refers to itself as the busiest convention city in North America. If you are spending a night or more, you'll have a variety of hotels to choose from. You can luxuriate in a gorgeous suite, or if you want to save money, you can find excellent budget accommodations. You can stay in the heart of the city or retreat to the quieter suburbs or stay out near the airport.

Although Dallas is the center of Texas commerce, it's not lacking in cultural events. The city boasts a number of excellent museums and art galleries. One of the most popular museums is the African American Museum located near Fair Park. The museum houses an intriguing and varied exhibits and displays, with a huge collection of African folk art as well as contemporary art. The museum offers a unique perspective and an increased understanding of African American heritage and culture.

Children are sure to find the Dallas Children's Museum exciting and interactive. With hands-on activities, children play life-like scenarios such as a farm, hospital, grocery store and firehouse. Lots of fun and great play in a learning situation.

No trip to Dallas would be complete without a little shopping. Dallas is home to a variety of boutiques and even some second-hand shops that sell the wares of top- rated designers such as Armani, Donna Karan, and Emanuael. Dallas is also home to many a sports enthusiast - with professional basketball, baseball, football and hockey. Or, if you want to participate in sports, you'll find lots of challenging golf courses. After 18-holes of golf, you can retire to one of the many fine Dallas restaurants.

Visit Dallas any time of year and you'll keep busy. The blend of big city and southwestern charm are a big draw, and you'll want to come back for more.
