Are We Close To A Herpes Cure

Herpes is a condition that is plaguing the world for hundreds of years. I say plaguing because like HIV/AIDS, there is no cure for herpes. This virus is most commonly transmitted through some form of sexual intercourse. Herpes is a hard virus to investigate (i.e. finding a herpes cure), due to its dormant nature. This virus makes itself known through the appearance of outbreaks.

Herpes outbreaks are blisters that can be found on the genitals or around the pubic areas. When the outbreaks are finished the virus lies dormant in the nerves, until the immune system weakens, causing another outbreak. This is why it is not easy to find a herpes cure, it does not live in the cells it hides in the nerves when dormant.

Although there is not currently a herpes cure available, there are medications that can help suppress the herpes virus and also natural creams and lotions that will kill the virus on contact

Typically we have to rely on our bodies to kill these viruses. So when talking about herpes, when our bodies go to fight the infection, the virus beats a hastyretreat into the nerve endings and lies dormant. It is safe there from attacks by the immune system , and the only time that it reappears is when another herpes outbreak happens.

Prescription drugs is currently the only solution that we have for herpes. However varying levels of stress can still cause the virus to come out of the dormant stage. As of now there are no approved herpes vaccinations; however scientists are testing vaccinations on willing participants.

When considering this situation one must remember that there are preventative measures that people can use as to not come into contact with this virus. During any sexual activity, one must make sure that protection is used. This is not a definite way to prevent catching the virus, but it dramatically reduces the risk.

Also oral sex is another major source of herpes infection. Oral infections on the inside of the mouth are occurring more and more every day. So when considering oral sex one must also use some form of protection as well. Again, the protection is not a cure for herpes but it just reduces the risk of becoming infected.

If you are searching for an absolutely sure way to not get infected with herpes, you will need to consider abstaining from all sexual contact.
